Requirements for the Mat
To maintain a safe and professional environment at Glacier View Junior High, all athletes must meet two requirements before stepping onto the mat.
1. USA Wrestling Membership
Core Wrestling is a USA Wrestling Chartered Club. For insurance and safety purposes, every athlete must have an active USA Wrestling membership and show their Athlete Card physically or digitally. This is non-negotiable. No athlete will be permitted to practice without a verified membership. You can obtain your membership and card at: https://www.usawmembership.com/login.
On the USA Wrestling site you will need to create an account for yourself, then a profile for your wrestler. Then manage your wrestler's profile. For the Core Wrestling club you will need a "$20 - Athlete - Limited Folkstyle Athlete Membership." You can print the card once purchased or save a digital copy to show.
2. Showing Up "Ready"
In a veteran-led room, punctuality and preparation are the first tests of discipline. Start time is "Go Time," which means being on the mat, laced up, and ready to move.
Your Gear List:
Wrestling Shoes: Mandatory for safety and hygiene (Headgear is optional).
Clean Athletic Attire: T-shirt and shorts/leggings (no zippers or buttons).
Water Bottle: Stay hydrated.
Failure to have your USA Wrestling card or proper gear will result in the athlete being sidelined for that session.
At Core Wrestling, we believe the mat is the ultimate classroom for life. Founded and led by a career U.S. Army officer with 15 years of leadership experience, our program goes beyond takedowns and escapes. We use the fundamentals of folkstyle wrestling to develop the next generation of disciplined, resilient, and humble leaders.
The "Core" Experience
Our 90-minute sessions are not a mindless grind. We utilize a high-engagement, cycle-based training model that balances technical mastery with physical intensity. Every practice is designed to keep athletes moving, thinking, and growing.
Elite Structure: Every session follows a disciplined progression—starting with a "Combat Readiness" warmup, followed by technical instruction that moves from slow mechanics to high-intensity situational application.
Stealth Learning: We incorporate two principle-based games into every practice. These games are designed to reinforce wrestling fundamentals like hand-fighting, leverage, and stance through high-energy, competitive play.
The Character Filter: We explicitly teach an "Anti-Cocky" culture. We celebrate the work, not the result. Every practice concludes with a dedicated "Mat Talk" to bridge the gap between wrestling skills and real-world leadership values.
